Aspirant Pledges Change
An aspirant to the House of Representatives in the Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency, comprising Yaba and Ebute Metta, Lagos southwest, Nigeria, Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, has promised the people of the area good representation that would effect their desired change in the constituency.
Adetokunbo, who is vieing fot the post under the platform of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) made the promise recently when he declared his intention to contest for the seat.
He said, ‘‘we have a peculiar case in Lagos Mainland, we do not have incumbent representative, since the man that represented us, Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, had defected to the PDP in Kwara State and rendered the seat vacant.
“What I intend to do is speak out eloquently on the issues affecting the people of my constituency and on issues of national matters such as education, security, employment, poverty eradication.
“I feel we have crises in our educational sector, NECO recorded 75 per cent failure, in WAEC, our students recordede 65 per cent failure, our tertiary education system is deteriorating on a daily basis, we have a crisis, I believe, and this is affecting every sector of our economy. So I intend to speak out forcibly and sponsor bills, ideas and proposals for discussion in the House of Representatives.’’
Adetokunbo, a close associate of the Late Engr. Funsho Williams, also promised to make himself accessible to the people by opening constituency offices where people can share ideas and tender their requests.
