Eko Club Begins Medical Mission In Lagos
The Eko Club International has begun a two-week medical mission to Lagos State, in collaboration with the Lagos State government.
Speaking with P.M.NEWS on Monday at the Itire-Ikate council secretariat where they had brought drugs and specialist doctors to attend to the people of the council area, the president of the club, Alhaji Zainudeen Popoola Aromire, said the Eko Club International which consists of Nigerians in the Diaspora all over the world,  brought drugs and medications worth $50,000US to Lagos to distribute to Lagosians.
He said the gesture is in memory of Dr. Muyideen Olowopopo, the chairman of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, who passed away on the 13 March, 2010.
Aromire said the group collaborated with other organisations such as African Women Awareness Association, Nigerian Women Association, Georgia, U.S.A, Health Beam Outreach and the Nigerian New York nurses association, while the Lagos State government provided logistics such as accommodation, transport and security.
Commenting on the gesture, the chairman of the council, Hon. Hakeem Bamgbola, thanked God that the council is a beneficiary of the free medical treatments and drugs given to the people of the area, and praises the team and personnel of the club, saying they have indeed done something great in the lives of the people.
