The National Youth Network on HIV/AIDS, Population and Development (YNETHA), OgunÂ State chapter is to organise a youth empowerment programme aimed at enlighteningÂ participants on the importance of women and youth empowerment in combating theÂ scourge of HIV/AIDS.
Speaking with P.M.NEWS, the state Coordinator of YNETHA, Mr. Tola Adenekan, assuredÂ participants of updates from experts on the various ways of preventing HIV/AIDSÂ epidemic and other serious health problems.
According to the former National Public Relations Officer of the National YouthÂ Council of Nigeria (NYCN): â€We are expecting 500 youth delegates from variousÂ organisations across the state and they are to work with others to protect the rightÂ of vulnerable groups such as young people who use drugs, young sex workers, youngÂ men who have sex with men (lesbians),Â youths in prisons and young people livingÂ with HIV.
”We are assuring them that after the four-day programme, they would have beenÂ equipped with modern trends and ways to tackle the scourge.”
The programme is scheduled to hold between Sunday, 31 October to Thursday, 4Â November, 2010 at the National Youth Development Centre, Owode â€“ Egba in ObafemiÂ Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
