The National Youth Network on HIV/AIDS, Population and Development (YNETHA), Ogun State chapter is to organise a youth empowerment programme aimed at enlightening participants on the importance of women and youth empowerment in combating the scourge of HIV/AIDS.
Speaking with P.M.NEWS, the state Coordinator of YNETHA, Mr. Tola Adenekan, assured participants of updates from experts on the various ways of preventing HIV/AIDS epidemic and other serious health problems.
According to the former National Public Relations Officer of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN): â€We are expecting 500 youth delegates from various organisations across the state and they are to work with others to protect the right of vulnerable groups such as young people who use drugs, young sex workers, young men who have sex with men (lesbians), youths in prisons and young people living with HIV.
”We are assuring them that after the four-day programme, they would have been equipped with modern trends and ways to tackle the scourge.”
The programme is scheduled to hold between Sunday, 31 October to Thursday, 4 November, 2010 at the National Youth Development Centre, Owode – Egba in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
