Nigerians In Germany Congratulate Fayemi
A Germany-based group, Forward Nigeria Diaspora Coalition (FNDC), has congratulated Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the new governor of Ekiti State, on his judicial victory.
The association, in a statement released in Frankfurt, praised Fayemi for his unflinching faith in the country’s judiciary and for providing a great lesson for the ongoing struggle for democracy in Africa.
“We salute your courage in the pursuit of justice and admire your conviction on non-violent change,†said the statement, signed by FNDC’s Coordinator, Femi Awoniyi, who is also the publisher of the Europe-wide circulating magazine The African Courier.
“Fayemi’s persistent and insistent demand for justice only through peaceful constitutional process is a call to all those who desire democracy in Africa to shun violence in their agitation,†he stated.
FNDC extols the new governor’s “unimpeachable democratic credentials,†citing his “heroic participation in the 12 June, 1993 cause and the fight against Abacha’s barbaric dictatorship.â€
The association described Fayemi as a “great son of Africa and one of the most highly educated politicians†in the continent, expressing its full confidence that he would serve the Ekiti people exceedingly well.
The group also greeted the Ekiti people on finally realising their desire to have a government which they sought through the instrumentality of the ballot box and for which they have sacrificed enormously.
