As at the last count, at least 10 governorship aspirants have signified their intention to vie for the ticket of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Ogun State, a leader of the party, Alhaji Rafiu Ogunleye has said.
Prominent among them are: Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Prince Kayode Tejuoso and Remilekun Bakare.
Ogunleye, a former deputy governor of the state spoke at the beginning of the AC NÂ voters mobilization programme in Ogun East Senatorial District for the 2011 polls.
He called on party faithful and residents to actively participate in the voters registration exercise in the interest of democracy, adding that the struggle to liberate the state from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, should begin with the authentic voters registration.
Ogunleye noted that the upsurge of aspirants for the election in the state has led to the revival of the party, urging the leaders and members to use the opportunity to take over power from the PDP in 2011.
He told the ACN faithful that he had started merger talks with the leadership of All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP and Democratic Peoples Alliance, DPA in the state , adding that the discussion was fruitful.
He called for unity among the ACN leaders and members so that the party can go to the polls as one indivisible family.
