Dolphins Set For New Season

In other to fully be in shape for the league season, Dolphins of Port Harcourt  ensured their squad played five warm up matches across the nation.

Manager of Dolphins, Stanley Eguma said the club’s camp for the new season began  about about two months ago with 30 players returning from last season. “After three  weeks training at the Port Harcourt Liberation Stadium, we travelled to Bori, a town  in Rivers State to play a friendly match against Ogoni United. We played a goaless  draw,” Eguma said.

“Dolphins moved into closed camping at Egbema, a town on the border with Imo State  with about 50 players and after one week in camp moved to Yenagoa for a friendly  match against Ocean Boys, where Owusu Addae netted a goal for us. We returned to  Egbema to play against Abia Warriors, formerly Orji Uzor Kalu United and the match  ended 2-2.”

Dolphins ended their pre-season training in Bayelsa with a 2-1 loss to Heartland,  but Eguma believes he has done enough for the team to be ready for the new season.

“Well, we had some problems. Problems like late release of funds, unavailability of  players to injuries and national call ups and lately the strike action by the  players but having said that we must agree that we have done our best in our  pre-season training. I can say the club are ready for the new season.”
