Family Holds Fidau For Father

The late Alhaji Sanni Oshofowoke Sonaike has been described as a hardworking, industrious and religious man, who worshipped Allah up to the last minutes of his life.

Speaking at the eight-day fidau prayers for the repose of the soul of the late Muslim leader, one of his children and the Amir of The Companion, Lagos State chapter, Alhaji Muhammed Thabit Wale Sonaike, said his late father was a committed family man, adding that he sacrificed his own survival for the education of his children.

Family members, friends and Muslim clerics representing different Mosques and Islamic organisations gathered at the Nigerian Army Sports camp last Wednesday to pray for the late Sonaike popularly addressed as Apanisile Akolongia Tiri.

During the prayer sessions, coordinated by The Companion, prominent Nigerians in attendance included a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Funmi Tejusoho and the Commissioner, Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Barrister Musbau Oyefeso.

The late Sonaike who hailed from Odogbolu, Ijebu-Remo in Ogun State died on Sunday, October 17, 2010 and was buried on October 18, 2010 in his home town according to Muslim rites.

Among his children are Risqat, Afusat, Sasiat, Dhikrullah, Selimot, Rafiu, Khudroh and Muh’d Thabit Sonaike.
