First Leg Ends ‘Morrow
The first leg of the 10th Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship will be rounded off tomorrow.
The leg known as Futures 1 will end with the finals of both men and women’s singles, while the finals of the doubles event will be played today at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan.
After the finals tomorrow, the winners in both categories will be presented with trophies in a brief ceremony that will be witnessed by the Local Organising Committee, LOC, officials from the two sponsors, Etisalat and FCMB, members of the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club and tennis fans.
As the 1st leg is rounding off, the qualifying matches of the second leg will begin immediately, while its Main Draws will serve off on Monday.
“I’m happy with the standard of play in this year’s tourney and the attitude of the players, especially our players who maintain high level of maturity. I believe the second leg will be tougher than the first leg,†said Prince ‘Wale Oladunjoye, the Tournament Director.
