‘Iya Eko’ Launched In Lagos

A book entitled: ‘Iya Eko’ on Lady Oyinka Abayomi, the first president and life patron of Nigerian Girls’ Guide Association has been launched in Lagos.

The book, written by Elderman Folarin Coker, the former permanent secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Youths, Sports and Social Development, was published by CSS Bookshop Limited, Lagos.

The book is about the struggle for gender equality in Nigeria and about Lady Oyinkan Abayomi’s life in general.

The gathering witnessed eminent women of substance like (Chief) Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola, wife of the Lagos State governor; Princess Adebisi Sosan, Lagos State deputy governor; Mrs. Stella Okoli, Chief Launcher; Mrs. Yetunde Arobieke and others.

The chief launcher, Mrs. Okoli, who is also the CEO, Emzor Pharmaceuticals Plc., called on Lagosians to emulate the life and character of Lady Oyinkan Abayomi.

”She left a good legacy while she was alive. She also encouraged Nigerian women to go for political offices so as to move Nigeria forward,” she said.

The event was also attended by members of the Girls’ Guild, Boys’ Scout and primary and secondary school children.
