Redeemed Church Organises Seminar For Couples

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (Peace & Goodwill Parish) in Arepo, Ogun State, is organising a programme for couples entitled: Bridging the Gap: Communication in Marriage on 24 October, 2010 at the Rexonaike Hall in Arepo, Ogun State.

Adebola Olaleye, Parish Pastor, believes the rate at which marriages are breaking up have become alarming. He said many Christians have neglected the principles of marriage.

“Christians no longer see anything wrong with divorcing their wives and picking new ones. We have refused to live our lives by the standard set by the Bible. Some of the reasons why we have broken homes today is because of inadequate communication between couples,” he said.

Olaleye believes that the church have to deal with a lot of marriage issues because some couples do not have the requisite chemistry needed to keep the home. He reckons that instead of constant counselling, a programme like this one can help couples avoid communication issues.

“The marriage counselling department of the church has become the most sensitive. Couples run to pastors to solve issues they could probably resolve amongst themselves. This communication problem affects the children, as well. I think every couple should be at this progromme,” he advised.

Speaking further, Olaleye said it is time to reflect and relax in the presence of God. According to him, every family needs time out, so that their relationship will wax stronger.

“We need to come together and reason as a unit. This is an opportunity for couples to have a reunion of a different kind. Interaction and prayers in God’s presence is pivotal to love and unity,” he added
