An official of one of the sponsors of the Governor’s Cup, First City Monument Bank (FCMB), believes Nigeria can produce more players like Nduka Odizor, Sadiq Abdullahi, Thompson Onibokun among others, if more stakeholders support the game.
Head Brand Marketing of the new generation bank, Tunde Shofowora, who made the submission hinged his conviction on the enthusiasm shown by the young players. He said they could become world champions if given the needed support.
The bank, according to him, thought it wise to partner with the Local Organising Committee, LOC of the Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis to fast track the process of discovering new players, while providing a platform for established stars to aspire to greater heights.
“One can easily recall with nostalgia the exploits of some of our past national tennis players, but we can return to the good old days by providing a platform for more players to emerge. The Governor’s Cup is a good championship for our players to showcase their skill and we are happy to be part of the opportunity,†he said.
