Why I Answered My People’s Clarion Call – Adaranijo

That Hon. Taofeek Abiodun Adaranijo is eyeing a House of representatives seat in  2011 is no longer news. His declaration to represent Agege Federal Constituency on  the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Political Train reliably  gathered, is a culmination of entreaties on him from a broad  spectrum of  stakeholders across his constituency.

According to political elites and a cross section of the electorate, the clamour for  Adaranijo to represent them at the House of  Representatives was the result of his  track records of achievements throughout his tenure as a two term chairman of Orile  Agege Local Council Development Area, LCDA, and service to the people at the  grassroots.

His declaration has received an overwhelming endorsement from the various political  players, traditional rulers, residents, electorate and other faithful of the AC N in  his area.

Political leaders who spoke highly of the achievements of his administration in  Orile-Agege, LCDA affirmed that what the constituency requires ultimately at the  moment is his maturity and experience at the National Assembly.

“Urging him to contest for the House of Representatives position is an expression of  our love and support for him and for the wonderful works that he had done in  transforming Orile Agege. I am delighted about his sterling performance.

“There has been evidence of transformation across the Orile Agege LCDA and this is  one of the reasons behind the clamour for him to contest for the House of  Representative seat next year and give us a very good representation,” said one of  the party leaders who does not want his name in print.

Speaking with Political Train, Adaranijo said that he was motivated  by entreaties  on him, adding that he was convinced about the sincerity and passion of the  overwhelming majority of the people.

“The past few years have afforded me the opportunity to restore the hope of my  people. I cannot at this moment of our development decline to continue to guide into  maturity the constituency which we have worked hard to build.

“Anything short of acceding to the call of the people will be placing myself on the  wrong side of history. To do otherwise will be to abandon my life long commitment to  the provision of selfless service to the people of Agege Federal Constituency,” he  said.

He added: “we have seen our representatives in the past. Many of them have not lived  up to expectation. With my experience and political know how, I am going to attract  more federal government presence to my constituency. I have worked at the council  and related well with the state.

“In fact, I want to appreciate those fighting for primaries. I believe in it so  much. I am a democrat.  People should be able to exercise their democratic rights by  voting for candidates oft heir choice who they believe will represent them properly.  I am not afraid of primaries. I have 80 per cent assurance of victory because  I am  a grassroots man,” he said.
