Court Rules On Awuse Family N50m Libel Suit
A Lagos High Court sitting at Court 7, under Hon. Justice K.O Alogba on Friday 22 October, 2010 delivered judgement on the N50 million libel suit between two members of the Awuse family in Onigbongbo, Lagos State.
According to the suit, the applicants were asking for the court among others to pay N50 million damages or exemplary damages for libel extensively set out in public notice and circulated by the defendants to the general public of Onigbongbo Community of Lagos State.
Giving his judgement, the Hon. Justice K.O Alogbo ignored the plea and instead asked the applicants to give account of all the lands sold so far, especially lands that are jointly owned by the defendants on or before 14 days of the judgement.
Following this judgemnet, all the request sought by the applicants, Alhaji Lateef kadiri and seven others were ignored.
Justice Alogba’s judgment was delivered in the protracted court battle which started in 2007.
