The trial of the former Chief Executive Officer of Intercontinental Bank Plc, Dr. Erastus Akingbola, temporarily suffered a setback this morning as his trial was deferred till another day.
When the matter came up this morning, the counsel to the two parties, Akingbola and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, claimed the case had been assigned to another judge, Justice Charles Efanga Archibong.
Though no official reason was given, it may not be unconnected with the fact that Justice Mohammed Idris before whom Akingbola was initially judge arraigned, was a vacation judge then.
Meanwhile, the new judge who will handle the matter has informed the two parties that the new hearing date will be communicated to them.
