Northwest Holds Clinic/Tournament

A week-long tournament and coaching clinic for youth teams in the Northwest Zone of the country started yesterday in Kano.

The tourney, sponsored by Mustapha Suleiman, a board member of Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF, who is representing the zone, have youth teams from Kano, Kebbi, Sokoto, Katsina, Kaduna and Jigawa states in attendance.

Suleiman said that the tournament is long over due. He called on the youths from the zone to take advantage of the clinic to update their knowledge and the latest technique of the game.

He reiterated his commitment to the development of the game from the grassroots in the zone.

President of NBBF, Tijani Umar, praised the efforts of Northwest zone and the sponsor, adding that the tourney and clinic will boost the development of the game in the zone.

He urged other stakeholders of the game to emulate the sponsor, noting that such effort will not only boost the development of the game, but help curb youths’ restiveness.

He noted that such tournament and clinic will go a long way in assisting the NBBF, saying the federation cannot develop the game alone.
