Group, LCDA Offer Free Medical Treatment, Screening
Since health is wealth, the Lafiaji Development Association in collaboration with the Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area at the weekend organised a free medical screening for residents of Cow Lane, Keffi, Obalende, Dolphin Estate, Araromi, Pike, Foresythe, Okesuna and Sangrouse area of Lagos Island, Lagos State to determine their health status to avoid health emergencies and untimely death.
The event was held at the Association’s secretariat at Lewis Street, Lagos Island, southwest Nigeria.
The residents trooped out in their numbers to participate in the exercise.
Drugs were administered where necessary and they were screened for ailments such as cancer, hypertension and diabetes; children were also given worm expellants.
The medical teams that participated in the screening was led by Dr. Kayode John and Dr. A. Akeredolu.
Speaking at the event, the president of the association, Mr. Babatunde Abosun said the association is non-political and non-religious and “we are after the welfare and progress of our community.
“We normally organise the free medical screening every 1st May and 1st October every year to assist residents on health matters.
“Apart from health, we have also empowered school children on summer coaching and the youth generally.â€
Secretary-General, Mr. Remi Agbaosi simply said: “We are giving back to the society what we have benefited from it.â€
