Stakeholders Seek Rejuvenation Of Iganmu Industrial Estate
Chairman of Surulere Local Government, Dr. Olusegun Razak Folami, has called on stakeholders, both private and public, to bring back the bustles of Iganmu Industrial Estate.
Folami made the call at a stakeholders’ forum held at the council’s secretariat.
He emphasized the need for the public and private sectors to partner with the local government to bring back life to the Iganmu Industrial Estate for the purpose of the beneficiaries.
“The collaboration is known as the Public and Private Partnership, PPP. The government cannot do it all alone; it needs the collaboration of the private and public sectors,†he stated.
Folami explained that a partnership between the public and private sectors would bring about a sustainable economic development in the area.
Also speaking at the event, Baba Omojola, a renowned development economist and a consultant to the Economic Commission of Africa, World Bank and the Iganmu Industrial Estate, said: “The collaboration was initiated as a process for interaction among industrial corporate organizations and a liaison with the Surulere Local Government for mutual benefit.â€
A representative of OAC architecture who is also a resident of Surulere linked the problem of Iganmu Industrial Estate to bad roads, inconsistent power and insecurity, which should be tackled immediately for the smooth running of business in the area.
To address the security concern, chairman of the local government, Dr. Folami assured that the police would be asked to be part of the stakeholders’ forum. He also promised to do something about the bad roads.
Present at the forum were Hon. Kayode Ogunnubi; a representative of the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Managing Director of LAWMA; Mr. Ola Oresanya; Rev. Deji Koko and town planner, O.M. Tugbobo, amongst others.
