Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, has been urged to stop attacking Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola of Lagos State because such attacks are capable of distracting the governor.
Making this plea in an interview with P.M.NEWS, General Secretary of the Coalition of Oodua Self Determination Groups (COSEG), Comrade Rasak Olokooba, said the criticisms are also capable of giving the ruling Action Congress of Nigeria (AC N), a bad image among the people.
Olokooba described Fashola as a model governor who has redefined the concept of good governance and service delivery in Nigeria.
Olokooba said Ikuforiji’s criticisms of Fashola ”poses grave danger to the good works going on in Lagos†and urged the ACN to wade into the personality clash between the duo.
“We observe that the speaker has been consistent in his attacks against the governor and we want him to know that Fashola represents the good thing Lagos is bequeathing to Nigeria and together they should continue this legacy.
“What we expect from people like the speaker is to give Fashola the necessary support to succeed, not distracting him.
“While we are not stopping the legislators from doing their job, we want to urge the speaker to exercise restraint in his comments against Fashola because it will later rub off on the party leadership and governance in Lagos,†he said.
