2011: Coalition Urged To Joint PDP To Oust ACN

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has commended the coalition of 25 political  parties recently inaugurated in the avowed bid to oust the Action Congress of  Nigeria-led administration of Lagos State.

The party said while it agreed with the coalition that the ACN has outlived its  usefulness and therefore deserves to be shown the way out, this noble goal could  have been better achieved if the coalition takes the wise and pragmatic move to  align with the PDP.

A governorship aspirant in Lagos State, Mr. Owolabi Salis, said he agreed with the  coalition in its concern that in spite of the staggering sum of over N38 trillion  which over the years had accrued to the coffers of the state , in the past 12 and  half years of the ACN-led administration, the latter had had little or nothing to  show in terms of development of the state.

He stated further that the position of the recently inaugurated political party has  gone to no extent to corroborate his oft-vaunted charge of ineptitude and abysmal  non achievement of the ACN administration in Lagos State.

“Can you imagine, for instance, that this government could afford to turn such an  unbelievably indifferent posture to the doctors’ strike, which has lingered for so  long, while a lot of people, principally the under privileged, are dying daily,   just because they do not have the means for quality health care?” Salis asked,  wondering the excuse the state of government has to offer for its inability to meet  the demand of the doctors, in spite of the huge revenue at its disposal.

“This undoubtedly goes to no mean extent to prove that this is a government of the  elite for the elite, devoid of any atom of sympathy whatsoever for the poor. It is a  government of deceit which places greater premium on decorative painting and  planting of flowers, all in the name of a megacity and over the dignity and sanctity  of human lives,” he stated.
