3 Held Over Killing Of Commissioner’s Mom

Following the killing of the mother of the Rivers State Commissioner for  Power,   Mrs. Lucy Wokocha, early yesterday at her home in Okposi, in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local  Government Area of Rivers State, three suspects were arrested about hour after the  incident.

According to information made available to P.M.NEWS from the Rivers State Police  Command Public Relations Officer, Rita Innoma-Abbey, the names of the suspects are  Chukwumela James, Henry Sunday and Friday Nwogba.

According to the image-maker, “they are strongly suspected to be involved. One  locally made shot gun, one mask, a black  gown and a charm were recovered from them.  The suspects were arrested along Ahoada road,Omoku at 4 a.m., about an hour after  the incident.”

She added:  “Efforts are on to track down other culprits.”

She also said that the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, is  investigating the matter.

The state government, through Mrs. Ibim Semenitari,the Commissioner of Information  and Communications has reacted angrily while condemning the murder, enjoining the  police to bring the culprits to face justice.

She said that the Rivers State Government is saddened by the ugly incident and vowed  that the state government would not treat the incident as one those unsolved murders  where culprits go scot free.

Rivers State Commissioner of Power, Augustine Wokocha, was an elected member of the  Rivers Assembly when Governor Chibuike Amaechi was the Speaker.

He holds one of the key ministries in Rivers for which the amount budgeted for it in  the last three years was well over N20 billion.

P.M.NEWS gathered that some unidentified gunmen invaded the old woman went through  the ceiling from where they shot her dead.

No motive has so far been adduced for the murder.

However, since the gunmen did not take away any valuable from the woman’s house,  there were speculations that they could be hired assassins.
