A goal from Oluchukwu Mukolu in the 48th minute was all that Damilola Taylor Football Academy needed to lift the U-17 Demola Seriki Cup.
Damilola Taylor defeated the All Stars Football Club of Oworoshoki in a pulsating final match played last Friday at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos State, Nigeria.
Both teams missed several goal scoring chances in the first half before Mukolu scored at close range to seal victory for his team early in the second half.
All Stars Coach, Bukola Onawade, expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance but noted that their opponents deserved the victory.
“It was a good match for us. Our players created many scoring chances but failed to convert them. It was sad that despite our efforts, we lost the final match,†he said.
Commenting, Damilola Taylor’s Coach, Sulaimon Ahmed, said his team won the game because the players played to instruction. He promised to defend the title in the next edition.
“My players gave their best to achieve the result. I believe the players were determined to win the match for me. The All Stars are equally a good side but our players fought like real champions and they deserve the cup,†he said
