Nigerians, irrespective of their social, religious or political standing have been enjoined to embrace the free government medical services and check-ups, through health screening, provisions of drugs and other enhanced intensive medical care and facilities in different hospitals and other primary health centres, to prolong their lives.
In addition, government has been charged to enforce the drug control, in order to arrest the influx of fake drugs into the country.
These remarks were made by the Executive Chairman, Apapa Iganmu Local Council Development Area, Lagos State, Dr. Samuel Adedayo at the free health screening and provisions of eye glasses organised and sponsored by the Ophthalmological Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter, in conjunction with the Apapa Iganmu LCDA.
The event was held at the Badia Health Centre, Ijora, Lagos to mark the just concluded World Health Day annually celebrated on 2 October.
He appealed to Nigerians and residents alike to pay a lot of premium to their health, through regular, effective free health screening, especially against malaria, diarrhea, high blood pressure and bad eye sight and other diseases, that might be detected from such screening and which if promptly arrested at little or no cost at all.
