Lagbaja Performs At Motherlan’

Still in the spirit of celebrating Nigeria at 50, Lagbaja will be  jamming live at  Motherlan’ tonight, being the last Friday of the month, while Obesere, 9ice and  Shefiu Alao will thrill their fans at Army Officers Mess, Sabo Yaba tonight.

Omo Baba Muko Muko, as he is fondly called, promises his fans great fun as usual.

In  his words, “a people without a culture is a people lost in the wilderness. That  is one of the major threats we face as a people. It affects all aspects of our  lives. Sometimes the effects are quite glaring but often, could be very subtle. I  appreciate the importance and urgency of this task and that is why I would never  relent.”

The  masked one further stated that “it is not just about music, culture is all  encompassing. I am not advocating that we live in isolation, far from it. There are  good things to learn from other cultures. We, however, should not throw ours away.  Whenever we are on tour internationally and we give workshops, no one asks us about  our guitars and keyboards. From Brazil to Holland all the time without fail, what  they enquire about are our drums and our unique rhythms.

“That is what Africa has to teach the world. Let them bring their bling, we bring  our jing.”
