Fashola Solicits Support For BRF Wrestlemania
Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola says the Intercontinental Wrestling Championship tagged BRF Wrestlemania 2010 will receive the support of the Lagos State Government.
Receiving the delegation of the Local Organising Committee, LOC, of the tourney, which paid him a courtesy visit and presentation of trophies and belts at the State House in Ikeja yesterday, Fashola said the competition, which will be staged in 11 centres across the state, is a laudable event that needs the support of all Lagosians.
According the sports-loving governor, “to show my support for the championship, I will personally want to be the first branding champion of this competition and help solicit for sponsors for the tourney.
“But on the part of the government, we’ll give our support because I’m proud to be associated with what the LOC is doing.â€
The chairman of the LOC, Primate Charles Odugbesi, who is also the Secretary of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, told the governor that the LOC needs the support of the government to actualise the event, adding that at least 25 foreign wrestlers will join their local counterparts from Nigeria to vie for honour in the two week event.
