Banyana Can’t Stop Falcons — Hamilton
Former Super Falcons Coach, Paul Hamilton, is confident that hosts, Banyana Banyana cannot stop the Nigerian ladies when both teams clash tomorrow in the second group match of the CAF African Women Championship, AWG.
Falcons and Banyana Banyana won their opening matches, and a win for Nigeria tomorrow will secure them a place in the quarter final of the championship.
Hamilton said the performance of the Falcons against Mali in their opening match was excellent, adding that it will be difficult for the hosts to win the game even with their home support.
“The Falcons are in good shape and their performance against Mali in the opening match was a clear indication that the team will go a long way in the competition and possibly win the tournament,†he said.
The proprietor of Weekend Football Academy also urged the Falcons to maintain the winning mentality if they want to win the title for the sixth time. He said it will be disappointed if the team fail to win the titles that they lost in Equatorial Guinea two years ago
“If they can maintain the playing tempo and remain focused, I strongly believe that they will not only beat South Africa but go ahead to win the title,â€
He however warned the Nigeria girls not to underrate the hosts, adding that they should approach the game with all seriousness.
Meanwhile, the South Africans see their African Women Championship Group A clash with Nigeria as the big match of the tournament, but the suggestion has left Nigeria coach Eucharia Uche amused.
“We have always played South Africa and each time we hear the same thing. But they cannot intimidate us,†she said.
“This match is like every other match for us and there is no room for complacency. We came here prepared to win the trophy and we are taking every match as it comes. I know that we will not drop any point against the South Africans.â€
