Prostitute Steals N720,000 From Patron

The police in Lagos on Wednesday arraigned, for the second time, a suspected prostitute, Oluayo Olatunji, for allegedly stealing N720,000 from a man who slept with her.

Olatunji, 40 is facing a one-count charge before a Surulere Magistrate’s Court.

She, however, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Mukaila Fadeyi.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Idowu Onime, told the court that Olatunji committed the alleged theft on March 30 in a hotel at 19, Adebola St., off Adeniran Ogunsanya St., Surulere.

Onime said that the money belonged to a businessman, Mr. Yomi Soyemi, who took the accused to the hotel.

He said that Olatunji, who was initially arraigned on Oct.13, could not meet her bail condition of N500, 000 and two sureties.

The prosecutor said that she had since been remanded in Ikoyi Prisons.

Onime said that the alleged offence contravened Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code of Lagos State, and punishable with seven years imprisonment.

The court still granted Olatunji bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Further hearing in the case will come up on Nov. 15.
