ACN Aspirant Cautions Reps
An aspirant for the House of Representatives under the banner of the Action Congress of Nigeria in Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency, Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, has called on lower legislative chamber in the national assembly not to overheat the polity with its resolution on dissolved local councils in three states of the federation.
The House of Representatives had on Tuesday called for the suspension of allocations to Edo, Ekiti and Ondo states for dissolving their local councils.
”Looking at the circumstances that surrounded the dissolution of the local government councils in both Edo and Ekiti states, especially that of elections conducted in states occupied by illegal governments of Prof. Monday Osunbor in Edo State and Segun Oni in Ekti State, I believe strongly that Governor Adams Oshiomole (Edo) and Governor Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti) acted in good order.
“This situation calls for caution on the part of the House of Representatives, the governments of Ekiti and Edo states as well as political minded Nigerians who will be reacting to the issue.
”We have to look at a fundamental issue, whether the chairmen of the local government councils in the two states were removed legally or illegally,†said Dr. Pearse of the Department of English in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Lagos.
