An Ikeja magistrate’s court in Lagos has ordered a man who claims to be a pastor, Tunde Badmus, 32, to be remanded in Kirikiri Prison over a three count charge of conspiracy and obtaining a sum of N3 million from a woman, Janet Rufus.
P.M.NEWS gathered that Tunde Badmus and others now at large gave a ride to Janet Rufus from Moshalashi bus stop, Alagbado, then, tricked the victim that she was demon possessed and she must be delivered urgently.
They allegedly succeeded in collecting N3 million from her in the course of exorcising the demon from her.
Janet also told P.M.NEWS that Badmus, under the pretence of casting out the demon from her, had sexual intercourse with her.
However, a few days after the incident, she realised that no demon was exorcised from her. Rather, Badmus and his gang succeeded in having sex with her and dispossessing her of N3 million.
She then reported the matter at the police station. Only Badmus was arrested and charged to court.
The police prosecutor, C. Takim in a charge sheet said the offences are contrary to and punishable under sections 516, 419, 390(9) of the criminal code cap C17 volume II laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2003.
When the charges were read to him, Badmus pleaded not guilty.
The trial magistrate Mrs. M.O. Ogunsanya granted bail to Badmus in the sum of
N1 million with two sureties in like sum.
She ordered that the two sureties should be gainfully employed and must have property in Lagos State, while one of them must be his blood relation.
The court has adjourned the matter till 1 December, 2010 for mention.
Because he could not meet the bail condition on time he was remanded in prison custody.
