Akanbi Halima Modupe, 18, has emerged winner of the maiden edition of Miss Oshodi Beauty Contest. The pageant was organised by Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya a.k.a. MC Oluomo, Chairman, Oshodi branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Lagos State, South West Nigeria.
The new queen emerged among 16 other contestants who slugged it out recently at the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social Development Centre, Oshodi, amid pomp and pageantry.
She was the toast of the guests who openly lauded her brilliance and carriage during the contest.
Akanbi was rewarded with a brand new Honda salon car courtesy of the sponsor and cash prize of N100,000. She also received other monetary gifts from guests, who were impressed by her brilliant performance during the contest.
The first and second runners-up received N50,000 cash prize and a flat screen TV; N25,000 and a deep freezer respectively. Other contestants also received various consolation prizes.
The pageant was organised as part of the annual event to precede the yearly Oshodi Day celebration which was first organised nine years ago.
