Victorious Nigerian teams to the just concluded Zone III qualifying tournament for the FIBA-Africa Champions Club For Men in Monrovia, Liberia, will return home today after putting up outstanding performances at the championship.
It was double honours for Nigerian sides, Kano Pillars and Royal Hoopers of Port Harcourt at the Zone-3 qualifying round of Africa biggest club competition, as they both snatched the two tickets at stake for clubs in Zone-3.
Kano Pillars who successfully defended the FIBA Africa Zone-3 title they won last year in Benin Republic defeated Cote d’Ivoire league champions, Abidjan Basket Club (ABC) by 65-42 points in the last day of the qualifiers yesterday at the gymnasium of the SKD Sports Complex to maintain their 100 per cent unbeaten record, thus becoming the only team that did not drop a point in the week-long qualifiers.
Shaking off their 87-70 points loss to Pillars on Saturday, Hoopers humbled Togo league champions, Swallows by 74-29 points in a game that kept the fans cheering all the way.
