Grand Mother Docked For Fighting In Public

A 60-year old grandma, Mrs. Funke Odetunde and two of her tenants, Seun Ajala, 29  and Tobi Onado 20, of 239 Bawalah Street, Pedro, Shomolu, Lagos State Nigeria, have  been arraigned before the Shomolu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos for engaging in street  fighting.

gathered that they were charged to court by the police after every effort  to reconcile them failed.

They were arraigned on a one-count charge of engaging in physical combat in a public  place.

The offence, according to the prosecutor, Mr. Akinlabi Adekoge, is punishable under  Section 38 of the Criminal Code, Cap. C.17, Vol.2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria,  2003.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge while their counsels, Barrister Tope  Abiodun (Mrs.) and Barrister Bolufemi Bisuga, urged the court to grant them bail on  a liberal term.

The magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 with  one surety each in like sum.

The sureties, she directed, must show evidence of payment of tax to the Lagos State  government and have their addresses verified.

The case has been adjourned till 24 November, 2010 for trial.
