Residents of Ashamu estate in Ejigbo Local Council Development Area of Lagos State have condemned an alleged attempt by some hoodlums hired by a family to attack and murder a Lagos-based estate agent, Chief Teslim Adeola Almaroof.
The residents, numbering more than 400, expressed their support at a peace meeting held with the accredited attorney of the late Chief E.O. Ashamu’s vast estate located at Oke Afa.
They also praised Almaroof for his leadership quality and his efforts to assist the less privilege in the society.
The late industrialist, according to a petition written through the law firm of Yemi Oladimeji, was said to have bought some properties from the family, but after some years, some people instituted a court case against him which he (Ashamu) won in a landmark judgment delivered by the Supreme Court.
Following the judgment, the law firm of Chief Afe Babalola (SAN) sought and secured the services of Chief Almaroof as attorney and has since been in peaceful possession.
P.M.NEWS also gathered that a petition over the attempted murder has been sent to the office of the Inspector-General of Police in Abuja.
The hoodlums, said to be over 300, allegedly stormed the Ashamu estate on July 19, 2010 with several weapons including AK 47 rifles, 350 live ammunition, tricycles, three Nissan buses, four dane guns, one rocket and several machetes looking for the complainant. The police are currently investigating the matter.
