MSI Academy and Yaro FC have qualified for the final of this year’s Abesan Cup after recording victories in their respective semi-final matches.
To reach the final stage, MSI beat Rozie 3 -1, while Yaro defeated Folem 2-1 in the second semi final at the Joju playground, Sango, Ogun State.
32 teams took part in the championship, which started two months ago. The prize money at stake this year is the sum of N250, 000.
Cup donor, Clementina Doregos pledged her commitment in the promotion of youth development through sports.
Doregos said this while receiving members of the Abesan Football Committee that paid her a courtesy visit at her school, Saint Bernadette School, Ipaja, Lagos State recently.
The renowned sports enthusiast described sports as a weapon for fighting civil unrest in the society and creating employment for the youths
‘‘We should start seeing sports as a unifying factor that will promote social development and peace. Sports should serve as a source of income for our youths as it is being done in other countries.’’
She also assured the committee of her readiness to sustain the sponsorship of the yearly event that has helped to discover the likes of Taye Taiwo, Pius Ikedia and Mutiu Adegoke, amongst others in the area. “I want to assure you that this sponsorship will continue for as long as I live because I’m proud of your success story,’’ she noted.
The final ceremony will hold on 28 November at the Abesan High School, Abesan Estate, Ipaja, Lagos State, Nigeria.
