Nigerians have been enjoined to pay attention to their health, especially, their eyes often regarded as the light and the engine room of the body.
Governments at all tiers were also charged to partner effectively with notable, purpose-driven NGOs, corporate bodies and wealthy individuals to impact on the teeming poor masses, who cannot afford the increasing cost of health care delivery.
Mrs. Doria Sunny-Agboh, teacher and mother of two made the remark after benefiting from the Free Eye Screening Exercise for herself and her children. The event was organised by the Save-A-Sight Foundation, in conjunction with the Halifax Eye Centre at the Itua Private Hospital, Festac Town, Lagos.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Director, Save-A-Sight Foundation, Mrs. Kate Adekunle-Samuel, said there was a partnership between her Foundation and Halifax Eye Centre at Itua Private Hospital, Festac Town, Lagos, which is held on every first Friday of every month from 7.30 a.m. to 12 noon. She informed the gathering on her establishment’s corporate passion to assist the poor masses with a view to alleviating such problems.
To this end, Mrs. Adekunle-Samuel passionately pleaded with the privileged, the wealthy, corporate bodies and other viable, notable NGOs, to assist them in bridging the gap between the rich and the poor through several avenues, such as the Free Eye Screening and Free Health Care Delivery Services and other Human Capacity Development Programme.
