Most residents of Ijebu-Ode went about their normal business activities. Students are in the schools, market men and women were busy selling their wares. But only the politicians gathered at the Gateway International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode where Mr. President’s helicopter was being expected to land.
About 7 p.m yesterday, a helicopter landed at the stadium with the advance team of mobile policemen and other security operatives deployed to the state to beef up security for the president’s visit.
There is heavy presence of security agents in and around the stadium and Ijebu-Ode.
As at press time, the host, Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State, other People’s Democratic Party PDP governors in the south west, politicians mostly PDP members were expecting to receive President Jonathan.
PDP supporters clad in an ankara gathered to welcome the president, a member of the party.
Another group in a different ankara was also on the ground. The majority of the political office holders were in Isheri where Jonathan was expected to land before moving to Ijebu-Ode.
