Resolution of the long drawn internal crisis rocking the prestigious elite club, Island Club, Lagos, appears far off, as warring members brace up for the final onslaught on the soul of the club.
While some members led by the General Secretary of the club, Mr. Oluwole Iyamu and the Assistant General Secretary, Barrister Flavius Akerele, have fixed Monday, 22 November for an extra-ordinary general meeting of the club to resolve the lingering crisis and set in motion processes to elect new executives to run the club, the incumbent chairman, Chief Olufemi Adeniyi-Williams and his supporters have asked members to ignore the notice.
Chief Adeniyi-Williams, in an advertorial, disclosed that no unauthorised extra-ordinary general meeting of the club will hold until an appeal filed by an aggrieved member on the crisis rocking the club at the Court of Appeal is decided.

In his advertorial, Mr. Iyamu declared that the requirements for the extra-ordinary general meeting of the club under Rule 13 of “our constitution have been met and fully complied with.
“Despite the empty threats and attempts to dissuade our members otherwise, the extra-ordinary general meeting will hold and it is the members of the Island Club who, ultimately will decide the fate of their club and not a self-serving minority clique.â€
