Respect Our Contract With Samson Siasia, Heartland Tells NFF
General Manager of Heartland FC Owerri, Fan Ndubuoke, has reminded the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF that the newly appointed Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia, still has a contract with the Naze Millionaires.
Ndubuoke’s reaction may have come at the heel of an assertion credited to the NFF technical committee chairman Barrister Chris Green to the effect that the former Under-23 coach cannot combine Eagles job with Heartland’s.
Ndubuoke who disclosed that NFF is yet to write to Heartland’s management of Siasia’s Eagles job told SuperSport.com that although they do not oppose his appointment but that NFF should at the same time not break its own law regarding valid contract.
“NFF is behaving like the typical NFF we know. They are yet to communicate or write us about Siasia’s appointment as Eagles’ coach and they have gone ahead with arrangement to unveil him to the public.
“There is an agreement between NFF and clubs concerning coaches and players contract. If we had sacked Siasia or player surely they would have run to NFF and they would have listened to them.
“Now you gave a coach job that has a valid contract with a club and still finds it difficult to notify them. Siasia is still on contract with us and remains our employee. NFF should respect that contract and also do nothing to break its own law.â€
Although Ndubuoke said the team is not without a coach, he appealed to the team’s fans that may not have been comfortable with the team’s 0-2 lost to Gombe United in their opener of 2010/2011 league season to exercise patience with the team.
“Coach Monday Odigie is with us, he is a national team coach and once won the league with Bayelsa United, so it is not like we are working without a coach, we only want NFF to respect its laws.
“I equally appeal to our fans to be patient with us. We are still re-structuring the team which is the mandate the state government gave us in order to run it professionally at reduced cost.
“All the changes will not bring immediate result but we are determined to come out with a team that everyone will be proud of,†he said.
Heartland are due to confront Niger Tornadoes at Dan Anyiam stadium, Owerri in week two of the premier league. They were beaten 2-0 by Gombe United in the league opener.
