Salami’s Suspension In Order
Former league star, Jumbo Awala, has applauded the Nigeria Premier League for the suspension of Shooting Stars forward, Gbolahan Salami.
Awala stated that the punishment will curb indiscipline amongst players in the league.
“I support the suspension of Salami. We need to curb misconduct by players and that’s the right way to ensure it doesn’t mar the league.
“This is the right time to curtail the excesses of players before they become national team stars. A wrong action by a player can change the outcome of a game,†he told SuperSport.com.
Awala faulted Salami’s action even if he had an issue against his former coach or club.
“His action means something must have happened in the past, but that’s not the way to settle it. He went too far,†he said.
The former ACB and Julius Berger star expressed confidence that the David Owumi led NPL would do everything possible to ensure the league gets more loyalists.
