Alimosho Local Government has launched the first community service website in  Nigeria which will provide prompt information for residents of the area and keep  them abreast of development.

The local government can be viewed via www.alimosho.org.

The initiative, powered by Higher Definition (HD)Concept, is aimed at helping  individuals, business owners and other government and non government organisations  by educating, informing and entertaining them with current information that will  help them make informed decision.

According to the Managing Director, HD Concept, Mr. Eric Nkennor, the move to  establish a functioning on-line for the local government became indispensable as the  youths in the environment lack all necessary information about the things happening  in and around them.

He expressed concern that the future of the youths in the surburb may be jeopardised  if their potential and business possibilities in the environment are not made known  to the world at large.

Nkennor said HD Concept partnered with Alimosho Local Government and the Action  Congress (AC) state youth leader, Alhaji Abdulahi Enilolobo, to bring the idea.

He said his orgainisation is ready to reposition the people of Alimosho and its  environs.

“Our motive with respect to this project is to reveal the potential of the  enviroment to the world. The on-line will rebrand the people and help maximse their  gifts while creating oppurtunities.

“The site will also create avenues for the community to exhibit their busineses as  well as educating and informing people about the community and showing Alimosho  people to the entire world,” he said.

In his assessment of the on-line, founder, Divine Fitness Centre, USA,  Professor  Akanfe Husain, said the facilities have several advantages that would benefit the  poeple.

He urged the government to make good use of the oppurtunity to reach the world  through the new established avenue.

Prof. Husain, however, urged the youths in Lagos generally to change their mentality  and create ways to improve on their environment.

He further advised that Nigerians should not wait for government in solving some  problems in their environment since the government at the federal level hardly have  time for the people at the local level, He said the people at the grassroots are the  government.

“Nigerian youths have great and enviable potential and they  must take advantage of  the website and change their perception about development. Let the change you desire  in this country begin from you,” he advised.

Meanwhile, most of the top senior officials of the local government were not around  for the programme that started three hours behind schedule at the Alimosho council  secretariat, Akowonjo.
