I’ll Coach Enyimba FC Someday

Ahmed Suleiman is the Chief Coach of Damilola Taylor Football Academy of Ebute  Metta. He spoke about his academy’s achievement and future plans with SUNDAY  AKINTOYE

Sir, your club have won three trophies in the last three months, can we say Damilola  Taylor Academy have arrived?
We have achieved more than any football academies as far as Lagos State is concern.  We won the U-17 Ade Dosumu Cup, U-15 Demola Seriki Cup and U-13 Dele Momodu Cup  within the last three months. This is to tell you that Damilola Taylor is one of the  best teams in Lagos.

Which tournament gave your team a tough time in all the competitions they featured  in?
I think I will pick the Seriki Cup. We were lucky to have defeated All Stars of  Gbagada 1-0 to win the trophy. It was a tough final because our opponents gave us a  good fight.

After emerging champions in the three competitions this year, what’s your next plan?
I want to go back to the National Institute for Sports, NIS for a coaching course  and will register for next year’s Lagos State challenge cup.

Don’t you think that your team are too young for the Lagos FA Cup?
I am not saying that we want to win the tournament but the players need more  exposure and new challenges. Playing in next year’s Lagos FA Cup will help the  players to prepare for subsequent competitions.

For how long have you been with Damilola Taylor Academy?
This is my seventh year in the academy. I am not planning to quit now but If I may  want to handle any club in the nearest future, I’ll prefer to handle Enyimba FC.

Why do you want to handle Enyimba FC?
That’s the only club that have structure and good organisation among the clubs in  Nigeria. Other clubs are trying, but I prefer  Enyimba because they have a good  track record.

Your happiest moment?
Anytime I win a tourney is  usually a day of joy to me. I recall when we won the  U-17 Dosumu Cup, I celebrated it with my fans and family.

What about your trying moment?
That was the day we lost the Nathaniel Idowu Cup at home against Ogun State. We  represented  Lagos State in the competition.
