The Atiku Campaign Organisation said that reports on the fire incident at its National Headquarters were “blown out of propotion”.
The Director-General of the Organisation, Mr Chris Mammah, stated this in Abuja while showing the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent the areas affected by the fire.
According to Mammah, the incident is not as serious as being reported, but a minor outbreak that affect a section of the compex.
“It was just a minor incident; it did not affect the whole building as being portrayed; just a part of the first floor and I reacted accordingly through a statement,†Mammah said.
NAN correspondent, who made an on the spot assessment reports that the fire outbreak which appeared to have been ignited by electrical fault burnt only a section of the wall in one of the offices on the first floor.
The extent of damage could not be ascertained because everything in office had been removed.
As at the time of this report, work was going on as masons, electricians and painters were busy at work.
The Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organisation had on Nov. 16 reported a fire incident at its campaign headquarters in Abuja.
A statement by the organisation said the cause of the fire was yet to be known as they were still waiting for the Fire Service to turn in a report on the incident.
According to the statement, ‘there were no lives lost and no injury was recorded in the incident’.
