The Atiku Campaign OrganisationÂ said that reports on the fire incident at itsÂ National Headquarters were “blown out of propotion”.
TheÂ Director-General of the Organisation, Mr Chris Mammah, stated this in AbujaÂ while showing the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent the areas affected byÂ the fire.
According to Mammah, the incident is not as serious as being reported, but a minorÂ outbreak that affect a section of the compex.
â€œIt was just a minor incident; it did not affect the whole building as beingÂ portrayed; just a part of the first floor and I reacted accordingly through aÂ statement,â€ Mammah said.
NAN correspondent, who made an on the spot assessment reports that the fire outbreakÂ which appeared to have been ignited by electrical fault burnt only a section of theÂ wall in one of the offices on the first floor.
The extent of damage could not be ascertained because everything in office had beenÂ removed.
As at the time of this report, work was going on as masons, electricians andÂ painters were busy at work.
The Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organisation had on Nov. 16Â reported a fire incident atÂ its campaign headquarters in Abuja.
A statement by the organisation said the cause of the fire was yet to be known asÂ they were still waiting for the Fire Service to turn in a report on the incident.
According to the statement, â€˜there were no lives lost and no injury was recorded inÂ the incidentâ€™.
