In a reinvigorated move to give voice to the voiceless, the Legal Aides Council has intensified efforts to establish Legal Aids Centers across the 774 local government areas in the country.

In a media chat with newsmen in Abuja this morning, the Acting Director General of the Council, Mr. Michael Awoponle said the Council has just commissioned the Bwari Area Council’s Centre to mark the kick off of the process of establishing Legal Aids Centers across the federation.

Mr. Awoponle noted that the concept of the Legal Aid Center initiative is the Council’s means of taking legal aid to the grassroots. The centers, according to the Acting DG, will serve as a hub for delivering the full complements of legal aid services at the local government areas. The centers would be manned by qualified legal and paralegal staff and would be fully equipped with all the electronics gadgets of a modern office.

He called for more funding for the organization by the Federal Government to ensure that the programmes of the Council are achieved.
