At least 76 foreign stars will be on parade at the 6th Obudu International Mountain Race and the second African mountain running championships which will hold on Saturday at the Obudu Ranch Resort in Obudu, Cross River State.
P.M.Sports gathered that five defending champions including the course record holder are among the world stars coming for the event.
Top on the list are the defending champions Habtamu Fikadu Awash (men) and Mamitu Daska (women), both of Ethiopia as well as three-time world champion (2006, 2008 and 2010), Austria’s Andrea Mayr, who set a new course record to emerge the 2008 women’s champions at the race.
Other star athletes are the 2006 women’s winner, Rehima Kedir of Ethiopia and Abebe Dinkesa, also of Ethiopia who set a new 41:45 minutes course record to win the men’s title in 2008.
Colombian duo of Roland Ortiz and Maria Eugenia Rodriguez as well as Israel’s Haim Malka are among those expected to hit Nigeria from tomorrow.
