Technical Director of Lagos Junior League, Tunde Disu, has frowned at the fracas, which marred a match involving the Ikosi-Isheri team and Ikorodu West on Sunday at the FIFA Legacy football pitch, Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria.
The Ikosi-Isheri football fans, who came to cheer their team to victory invaded the pitch when some officials clashed during the encounter.
Trouble started after Ikorodu West scored a goal before the end of regulation time.
This ugly incident resulted in a stampede, which was seen as a bad omen and what could derail the smooth running of Lagos Junior League.
Disu, who is sad about the unfortunate incident, disclosed to P.M.Sports that members of the disciplinary committee are not happy about the incident and would take an appropriate action when the chairman, who travelled returns.
“We won’t condone any act of hooliganism from any team. It’s unfortunate that this incident occurred when we are trying to canvass for wide publicity for the Lagos Junior League. I want to assure the participants that the culprits would be brought to book as soon as the accordingly,†he said.
P.M.Sports, however, gathered there was no soccer hooliganism at the Onikan Stadium as Ejigbo lost 1-2 to Oshodi in another pulsating encounter.
