The market leader of Ilogbo Oja Oba Agbokejoye in Olorunda Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Chief Nurudeen Oyerinde Asade, has appealed to the state and local governments to provide modern public toilet in the market.
Speaking with Lagos Bulletin recently, Asade said traders, customers and visitors to the market always complain about lack of public toilet in the market.
He also lamented the absence of Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) in the market to evacuate refuse.
According to him, during the state’s weekly sanitation exercise on Thursdays, heaps of refuse collected during the exercise are always left uncleared by either LAWMA or PSP operators.
“The market is big and because of its size, so much waste is generated. The operators of waste trucks don’t come here and that is why there are heaps of refuse in the market,†he stated.
Asade appealed to the state government and the council chairman to act fast on the issue, while advising LAWMA to help in improving the sanitary condition of the market.
