LDFA Woos Multichoice

The Lagos Divisional Football Association, LDFA, are planning to pay a courtesy visit to Multichoice Nigeria Limited in an effort to go into partnership with the company in the area of Human capacity development.

LDFA, which is the premiered and most active divisional football association among the five divisions in the state namely; Ikeja, Ikorodu, Epe and Badagry, has over 230 football clubs participating in their various competitions and they are hoping to use the window of opportunities from the company to develop their human capacity in the area of administration and other departments in the LDFA.

Dotun Coker, Chairman of the association, while congratulating the company for winning back the hosting rights of the English Premier League, EPL said they are looking towards forming a strong partnership with company rated among the top dogs in broadcast business in the world.

Coker, who is also a member of the state football association, opined that the attractive profile of the division which  organises Oba Cup, Boska, LDFA League and various age grades competitions can improve with partnership with the company.

He said  that although no date has been fixed for the courtesy visit, the partnership will surely help to develop the game in the area of TV coverage and publicity .

He noted that the division have consistently produced players for Nigeria’s under age teams, senior team and top clubs within and outside the country

Yomi Peters, Technical Director of the division, also expressed optimism in the development of the round leather game through  a partnership with a top brand like Multichoice Nigeria

He said the government can not do it alone, hence the need for the partnership to boost the development of the game not only in the state but in the country as a whole.

The former player and team manager of Stationary Stores football club charges companies within and outside the state  to brace up to the challenges of developing the country’s sports through proper partnership in capacity building.

He said the Lagos State government  is doing well in the area of human capacity development with various programmes that can expose the youths of the state and country to positive venture.

Stating that the recently held Lagos International Youth cup, which saw a Team Lagos under -17 team competing with SuperSports United of South Africa, Liberty Football Academy of Ghana and Unttich Football club of Holland, with SuperSports winning the tournament,  were beamed live by DSTv  and this helps to showcase and expose the youths to the rest of the world.
