The much expected solution to the problem in the pools business in Lagos State may have to wait.

This is because the parley between some senior officials of the Lagos State government and the executives of the Lagos State Pools Agents Association, LASPAA, has been put on hold because of the Sallah holidays.

It was gathered that Mr. Ade Ipaye, the Special Adviser on Taxation and Revenue to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, who has been mandated by the governor to work on the proposal submitted to the Governor’s Offce by the LASPAA, is currently in Mecca for the holy pilgrimage.

President of the agents association in Lagos, Major Sammy Ogunyebo (rted.) said that the Sallah holiday had slowed down work on the association’s proposal with the government, but assured that all hands are on deck to esnure that before the year runs out, the state government will come out with a solution that will be accpetable to all stakeholders in the business.

“I learnt that Mr. Ipaye, the S.A. to the Governor on Taxation, is out of the country on pilgrimage to Mecca. He should be back any time from now. I’m happy to say that my visit to the Lagos State Inland Revenue Service, LIRS, on Monday yielded fruit. I discovered a draft of government policy is now ready for Ipaye and some other government officials to vet before passing it to Governor Fashola for approval,” said Major Ogunyebo.

The president also called on all relevant government officials, who Fashola has mandated to work on the association’s proposal, to expedite action on the solution to the problems confronting his over 20,000 members spread across the state.
