Coach of the Super Eagles, Samson Siasia is planning to ensure that the senior national team are making use of the FIFA free days with Grade A international friendly matches.

It was gathered that the former Nigerian international and his assistant Dutchman Simon Kalika are planning to use their contacts across to the world to ensure that the friendly ties come to reality unlike in the past when such friendlies were put off in the last minutes.

It was gathered that Siasia plans to see that the Eagles have their hands full with friendly matches in the New Year as they prepare for the remaining qualifiers ahead of the 2012 African Cup of Nations.

Top of the list of countries Siasia is targeting for the Eagles are Belgium, Austria, Marcedonia, while Kalika is working on the possibility of getting his country, Holland to play Nigeria as well.

To make sure that the plans of the Eagles’ new coach work out well, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF says it will allow Siasia to arrange for friendly matches for the team in conjunction with the federation when he officially takes over as Nigeria’s coach next week.

Reports from the NFF secretariat in Abuja, say although the NFF will do everything possible to arrange friendly matches for the Eagles, the new coach will be allowed to use his contacts to do the same where possible.

Already, Siasia’s representative Nitor Egbarin has been in the United States and Europe trying to arrange a 5-match package for the Eagles. Additionally, a largely home-based squad are expected to be in the USA in February for a mini-tournament.

Meanwhile, the NFF appears to have finally settled for 1 December as the date to officially unveil Siasia as head coach of the country’s senior national team.

After a number of postponements, vice president of the federation, Mike Umeh, said 1December looks a feasible date for the officially unveiling of the substantial coach for Nigeria.

Siasia is also expected to sign his contract papers with the NFF as well as the Code of Conduct on same day of the unveiling billed to take place in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Siasia is expected to earn the sum of N5 million monthly while his assistants will pocket N3 million each.
