Ex-HOS Joins House Of Reps Race

The immediate past Head of Service in Lagos State, Alhaji Yakub Abiodun Balogun, has entered the race to represent Lagos Island Constituency 02 at the Federal House of Representatives in 2011.

Ajoo as he is fondly called was the pioneer permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget where he served between 1999-2004.

He was the Permanent Secretary to the Governor’s Office between 2004-2006, whre he worked directly and also learnt a lot of administrative, financial and political lessons from the governor emeritus, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He also served under the present administration of Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, as the Head of Service, HOS, before his recent retirement.

Balogun became the HOS in the year 2004 and served in this capacity for a period of four years and three month before he voluntarily retired his position for partisan politics.

During his tenure as the HOS, he ensured that prompt payment of workers salary, increase in the number of staff buses, completion of abandoned staff quarters at Alausa as well as the tremendous care for pensioners through the establishment of a post service department.

He also ensure the prompt payment of teachers allowance, instituted long service award for worker, employment of the youths into the Lagos State and local government service and the execution of many welfare projects in his constituency.

He commended those that have represented the constituency at one time or the other, adding that he is offering himself to represent the good people of his constituency at the National Assembly come 2011.
