Students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, who have been starved of fun, took to the dance floor last weekend as the Maltina Show Your Swag, a pan-Nigeria musical roadshow, landed in the sleepy city last weekend.

A large number of the students trooped to the activation centres in the city to participate in the pre-selection process and they thrilled not just the organisers, but also the crowd

In the words of Mr. Tunji Aikomo of Bates Cosse, the Project Managers, “the pre-selection process in Nsukka was both exciting and challenging to us. It was as if the students were waiting for us to land in the state. In all of the activation centres, many of the university students and other youth from the area unleashed their dancing potential to the admiration of all. I must confess, we are very pleased and encouraged with what we saw.”

At the end of the show,  Chuka Omeje, an SS1 student of Urban Boys’ Secondary School, Nsukka, emerged the best in the male category.

He defeated Chuzzy Anene, a year one medical student of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Mba Eze, who emerged first and second runners-up respectively. They went home with a 2.5 KVA generating set, a 21-inch colour TV set and a Home Theatre set for their efforts.

In the female category, Emillian Ezeanya, a SS2 student of Union Secondary School, Nsukka, came first, while Praise Godwin, Foreign Language and Literary Study graduate of the UNN and Adaeze Ezekwem, a 300 level Linguistic student of UNN, came second and third respectively. They went home with a 2.5 KVA generating set, a 21-inch colour TV set and a Home Theatre set.

Some of the cities where the show had been held include Badagry, Epe, Ogbomoso, Offa, Birnin Kebbi and Sokoto. Others are Kaduna, Maiduguri, Yola, Jalingo, Oturkpo, Jos, Gwagwalada, Idanre, Sagamu Ekpoma, Auchi, Sapele, Yenagoa, Choba and Ikot Ekpene.
